The impact of time on humanity

Posted

Who invented time? For humanity to understand time and its impact on mankind we have to explore the relationship between time and the mind. The Sumerians were the inventors of time 5,000 years ago. They were the first civilization to systematically understand that there are 60 minutes in an hour and 60 seconds in a minute. The Sumerians figured out that there were 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness.

They used their advanced astronomical observations to come up with 60 minutes in an hour and 24 hours in a day. They closely observed the movements of celestial bodies, and in particular, the way the sun seems to move across the sky. The Sumerians were from the Middle East between the Euphrates and Tigris Rivers in the region the Greeks called Mesopotamia.

We need time for structure and organization in our lives, but the mind is capable of bringing future events that may help you. Forward thinking ideas and motion help speed up the quality events in your life that will help impact your time. Time is time however, bringing positive fresh events into your life will help stimulate you forward and bring about a higher value to your time.

What is the relationship between time and the mind? Let’s look at mental time travel.

Our minds can readily access memories of the past and imagine future scenarios -  effectively “traveling through time“ within our thoughts. When we actively use our brain, we generate thoughts which send neurons throughout the brain at 270 miles per hour transcending time and space.

The mind is vast and complex and it needs to be nourished for it to continue to expand. This is called neuroplasticity which refers to the brain thriving and reshaping for growth and well being.
