This fall, Lower Moreland Township voters will see a new team of candidates on the ballot for school board. Running together as LM Together, Derek Austin, Erskine Payton, Dr. David Litt, and Patricia Balitzky are united by a common purpose: to protect and strengthen what makes the district’s schools exceptional.
The slate emphasizes a clear, student-centered vision. Their priorities include keeping public education strong, supporting teachers, managing tax dollars responsibly, and resisting policies that would divert funding away from local schools. For LM Together, strong schools are the foundation of a thriving community, boosting property values, fostering local pride, and ensuring every child has the tools to succeed.
Fiscal responsibility is another cornerstone of their campaign. The candidates believe in careful, transparent budgeting that prioritizes classrooms and long-term planning. They point to the district’s recent efforts—like implementing a 10-year facilities plan and updating outdated enrollment projections—as examples of responsible stewardship that prevents surprise tax burdens.
Supporting teachers is also central to their platform. The group highlights the importance of retaining and respecting outstanding educators while addressing challenges like burnout. They view teachers as partners in student success, not political targets.
The candidates also take a firm stand against voucher programs and privatization, arguing that such measures threaten successful districts like Lower Moreland by diverting public funds to unaccountable alternatives. Instead, they call for continued investment in the district’s proven strengths: rigorous academics, safe and supportive schools, and inclusive policies that reflect the township’s diverse community.
Together, Austin, Payton, Litt, and Balitzky say their mission is simple: put students first, keep politics out of the classroom, and ensure Lower Moreland schools remain a source of excellence for years to come.
